Story

Grace was found in Jaro, Iloilo. Formally adopted by movie stars FPJ and Susan Roces. Finished secondary education at Assumption College. She also took up AB Development Studies at the University of the Philippines-Manila. Earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Boston College- Massachusetts, with a concentration in Government and Political Theory. Ranked No. 1 in the 2013 Senatorial race and garnered a historic more than 20 million voted- all while running as an independent candidate.

  • National Champion of the Rotary Club of the Philippines Oratory Competition (1984)
  • Debate Champion of the La Salle Greenhills Inter High School Debate Competition (1985)
  • Extemporaneous Speech Champion of the De La Salle Greenhills Inter High School Speech Competition (1984)

She also took up AB Development Studies at the University of the Philippines-Manila from 1986-1987.

Earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Boston College- Massachusetts,

with a concentration in Government and Political Theory. She also co-founded the Filipino Cultural Club of Boston College.

Married Neil Llamanzares

They were blessed with three wonderful children: Brian, Hanna and Nika.

Became Vice President of FPJ Productions and Film Archive, Inc.

She supervised the day-to-day operations of the company and played an advisory role to its Board of Trustees. She personally oversaw the preservation, restoration and promotion of all 200+ FPJ-produced and co-produced films.

Appointed as Chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB)

She reformed the institution’s mindset from “censorship” to the promotion of “intelligent media viewership." Accordingly, she established a new, age-appropriate ratings system. She also supported the development of “indie films” and ensured that the agency regularly surpassed its revenue targets.

During her first term, Grace Poe was elected by her colleagues as the first female Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Dangerous Drugs. She spearheaded a fair and unbiased probe on the Mamasapano massacre and the PNP gun license delivery scam.

As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Public Services during the 17th Congress, she acted as the eyes and voice of commuters and the transport sector in scrutinizing the performance of the DOTr, particularly with regard to the MRT-3, PUV Modernization, Paranaque Integrated Exchange Terminal, and the Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) sector.

Chosen as a Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew Policy Center, National University of Singapore

She is the 3rd Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellow (LKYEF) from the Philippines and 46th from the world since the program started.

Secured a fresh mandate to serve the people as a Philippine Senator on her 2nd term of office

She hit the ground running by serving as chairperson of the Senate Committee on Public Services and the Committee on Banks, Financial Institutions and Currencies.

With the Covid-19 pandemic greatly affecting the lives of Filipinos, she continues to work tirelessly in order to bring about legislation and projects that will help our kababayans to bounce back from the crisis.
