The revival of the private motor vehicle inspection centers (PMVICs) in some areas at a time when oil prices are uncontrollably rising poses a two-fold blow on vehicle owners, drivers and ordinary Filipinos barely recovering from the pandemic.
Various reports have reached our office that PMVICs are now allowed to unduly operate in several provinces after they were earlier suspended pending further review.
What were the results of the review? Were the recommendations in the Senate committee report considered? Has there been wider consultation to know the sentiments of the affected sectors?
There’s no question we all want safety in travels, but this should be driven by sound and compassionate policies that would not add to the burden of our people.
The PMVICs should not be like a sword of Damocles hovering over the heads of our people that could be allowed at whim.
Huwag naman walang pakundangan at malasakit na biglaang ipasasalang ang sasakyan ng ating mga kababayan sa mga PMVIC sa gitna ng hagupit ng pandemya.
